The Tarot - 4 Misunderstood Cards

There will come a time when you pull off one of these four cards in a reading for yourself or a client. When I was first learned the Tarot, I was fascinated by these cards, contrary to being afraid.

Yes, the visual representations can set you back slightly, but I was more interested in understanding the underlying message the card was trying to convey. Now, I know, I may not be able to change the opinion of many; if they pull up a Devil card, the first reaction is something terrible will happen, its doom and gloom!

So, let me show you my interpretation of these four cards and why I believe they are misunderstood.

The Ten of Swords

When you first look at the card, you may recoil seeing a man with ten swords on his back as he lays looking towards the water. In a reading, this could indicate that a sudden change is about to occur. Now depending on the question posed by the client, it could mean breaking up of a relationship, financial troubles, career issues – basically something not so pleasant is going to take place. It could also indicate someone has backstabbed you.

However, if you take even a closer look at the card, notice the swords' placement. Six blades are pierced through the red robe, indicating he has conquered his passion, and the 4 four swords pierced on his vest indicate he has conquered his desire for material wealth. As he faces the calm waters, the man knows the worst will be over soon, and as the sun rises, the black clouds are disappearing. What was meant to go has gone, but new beginnings are being welcomed.

Death

The Death card is seriously the most misunderstood. Many people take the literal meaning that they or their loved ones will die when this card is pulled up in a reading. The death card is an indication that a significant phase or aspect of your life is about to end. With an end, there is a new beginning. Depending on the client's question, it could mean the end of a partnership, job, relationship, business opportunity, and friendship. You will have the power and freedom to make the choices that suit you and the current situation.

 Three of Swords

The imager of three words piercing through the heart, and you know this card indicates sadness, heartbreak, betrayal, grief, separation, and rejection. As painful as these events are, notice the swords facing downward. It’s over. Now take this as a lesson learnt and move on. The pain may linger for a while longer, but you have come out of this – hopefully stronger and wiser. Sometimes, we have to go through specific life experiences that will prepare us for the next chapter of our lives, where meaningful fulfilment awaits.

Devil

This card indicates that there is something negative in your life at present. You are shackled and bound, even blinded by the facts surrounding you. You could be surrounded by negative people or going down the path of self-destructive behaviour. What you need to know is that the shackles that bind are loose; you have the power in you to remove what no longer serves your higher calling. The Devil card is prompting you to reassess your life and observe the influences around you, pulling you down instead of lifting you.

If you have never given Tarot reading a go, give it a try. I look forward to connecting with you:)
