The Tarot – Understanding the Elemental Correspondences

There are 78 cards in the Tarot. There are 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards. The minor arcana comprises four suits, and each has its elemental correspondence. When you understand these elements, they will help you understand your reading better, and you will become more aware of how cards correspond with each other.

If you notice more cards of a particular suit in a reading, it then explains there is a significant emphasis on the elements' meanings.

  • If a majority of Cups appears in a reading, it could indicate that emotions, intuition, spirituality, feelings, relationships are at the core of the reading.

  • If a majority of Swords appears in your reading, it could indicate ideas, emotions, and intellect at the core of the reading.

  • If a majority of Wands appears in your reading, it could indicate drive, willpower, ambition, and action are at the core of the reading.

  • If a majority of Pentacles appears in your reading, it could indicate stability, finance matters, nature, health, reliability are at the core of the reading.
